Château HB

The castle probably would have been a place of grandeur and expensive wines, but after a fire in 1990 (?) it was left in ruins. The exact history is hard to find. One source says that the castle was built in the 17th century on the ruins of a medieval castle dating back to the 14th century, and that in 1870 some additions were built. Another source says that this castle was built in 1912 by a wealthy family. To me the castle felt a bit ‘kitsch’ and I think that 1912 is closer to the truth. A fact is that it was renovated quite a bit, even elevators were added in the stairwells.

All of the roofs and many floors were swallowed by the fire. During our visit it was raining inside just as much as outside. Not much is left of the castle and to be honest, I didn’t feel much creativity flowing here. We did a quick run-through and hit the roads again.
