This zoo was closed down almost thirty years ago and most of it is still left behind. About two years after renovation and expansion of the zoo started, its financial problems became too big and it had to close. The animals were not sold by auction but sold to parks that could provide the best care. For this reason it took two years before the animals were all sold. Only two monkeys that were too old to sell stayed. A small part of the zoo is maintained and has been in use as a breeding center until 2006.
Due to heavy supervision by the caretakers and authorities only few people have walked the paths after closure. The only damage is done by nature, creating beautiful scenes of collapsing buildings and trees growing through the cages.
(Unfortunately the panorama has a lot of stitching errors. I will make or buy a panoramic tripod head soon to solve this.)
